Teamo

This is our main point of contact with you. Please check Teamo regularly and confirm attendance/availability in advance. This can always be changed at a later date if your plans change, but is vital to allow the coaching team to staff and plan sessions effectively.

Weather

The artificial surfaces used for hockey 'freeze' as temperatures approach zero. This means that, over the winter months, cold weather may mean we have to cancel training, or move training to a later time. We will do our best to contact those players affected with as much notice as possible. Please check twitter, Teamo & email before setting out for training when the temperatures drop!

GMS (Game Management System)

For England hockey league & cup fixtures we now need to submit all our information including team sheets online. This means as a one off, all our players need to register on GMS (Game Management System) which is the England Hockey fixture and results system, so they are eligible to play. Please can you take a few seconds to read the info below and action as appropriate.

Any queries, or if you think that your young person is already registered on GMS - either with CCHC or with another club please email Message CCHC Youth Section or contact Sharon Ely via the contact card at the bottom of the page.

Joining GMS

A) If you already have a GMS account as a parent (another child with CCHC or another club) or as a player then please login to your existing account, open ‘My Profile’, and in the ‘Relations’ tab there is the option to ‘Add Dependent’. It will also list any children already registered.

Otherwise:

B) Please can you register on GMS using the following link: https://gms.englandhockey.co.uk/

  • Select the Parent/Guardian option, fill in your email, and you should then receive a verification code (can take a few minutes!)
  • You complete your details first to create a parent account.
  • The club will ‘approve’ you and you can then add your young person(s) as a dependent.
  • Please be sure to select Cambridge City HC from the 'clubs' dropdown box (there are a number of similar Cambridge clubs).

The system is not very user friendly. If you are having problems, instructions from EH can be found on their website here - https://www.englandhockey.co.uk/play/gms-player

Transfers

Log into your Parent GMS account > My Clubs > Request to join a new club > select which person on their profile is wanting to transfer (parent or child)

  • In the Pop Up Box > Which club would you like to join? > Choose Cambridge City HC
  • In the Pop Up Box > Where it says 'Will you be leaving any of your current clubs' > make sure they are ticked.

Please ensure you have paid all outstanding fees owed to your previous club, and returned any borrowed kit - this should make the process go quicker. The releasing club do have 10 days to either approve or contest the transfer, but after that it will complete automatically if no action taken.

IS YOUR CHILD:

1/ Already dual registered with Cambridge City HC

or

2/ Moving to Cambridge City HC BUT someone linked to your main parent account (you, another child) is already a member of CCHC

PLEASE CONTACT US VIA THE CONTACT CARD BELOW

  • In both these situations Cambridge City HC will not show as a transfer option, so the transfer will need to be completed through GMS support with permission received from the releasing club.

Why Umpire?

  • Develop your understanding of the game (and learn the rules 🤪....)
  • You get to see great hockey & meet great people!
  • Give back to the sport.

Who can Umpire?

Anyone! You can take the L1 Theory Course once you are 14+ and if you are younger, we can get you you started by umpiring at one of our mini's tournaments.

FAQS

Does it cost anything? No - the L1 Theory Course is now FREE!

Do I have to umpire every week? Nope. Whatever you can do is great!

Do you pay umpires? Yes! If you complete your qualification and are assessed, you could earn £15 per game!

How do I get started?

Take the Level 1 Umpiring Course

This is an online course (over a single evening) that is easy to book onto via the England Hockey Hub on a date and time that suits you. If you are successful in completing the online course you will be a 'Level 1 - Unassessed Umpire'. The course is now FREE.

In order to take the course, you will need to be registered on the England Hockey Hub:

While waiting for the course, you will need to take the "Rules of Hockey" module in your own time.

Once logged into the Hockey Hub select Officiating Tab – Rules of Hockey. You can also download the hockey rule book from there.

What next?

Once you have completed the course, contact us and we can organise some umpire coaching and opportunities to start practising your umpiring.

You will probably start by umpiring 7-a-side In2, and then progress to 11-a-side. When you are ready, we can arrange for you to be assessed

Tim Ireland & Sam Pettengell coordinate the umpires for senior & junior fixtures respectively, and also liaise with East Young Umpires, who provide junior umpire coaching & support, and opportunities to progress to umpire at both regional and national level.

If your young person is in school years 5 - 10 and does not have the opportunity to play hockey at school, they may be eligible to join our Tuesday evening Junior Development sessions in addition to their regular age group training session.

These are open access, mixed sessions (boys and girls, Y5 - 10) which give players without school hockey an extra opportunity to develop their skills. There's no extra cost. There's more information on our website here:

For more information, please contact our Outreach manager Diana Dai @ cchc.development@gmail.com or via the contact card below:

Teamo

Teamo is our main communication tool and we use it to manage all our hockey including payments, training & fixtures.

The Teamo mail system, 'Teamomail', is used for our bulk communications. Emails will be sent to the parent email you used to register, & will appear as coming from updates@teamomail.com.

We will try not to bombard you with too many emails, but please never mark us as spam or you will block all further email communications.

It is worth adding updates@teamomail.com to your contacts and safe senders lists.

This guide is quite useful for the basics on how to use the App:

Can my child download & use the App on their device?

Yes.

U14 and younger we ask that the App is parent only, but U16 & U18 players are encouraged to use Teamo too, so they can start to manage their own hockey. Parents still have full access.

How do I give my child access?

  • Open your parent Teamo account > Your Profile > Open Your Profile > Select Child's Profile.
  • Use the edit icon (top right) and add your child's mobile +/- email into the relevent fields.
  • Remember to Save the changes!
  • Your young person can now download the Teamo App & login using their mobile number or email & 2FA.

Volunteer

Volunteers are the lifeblood of community sport – without them, a large proportion of grassroots sport and physical activity simply wouldn't happen. CCHC is no different - we are a club run by members, for the members.

You don't have to be a qualified coach, or great at hockey, or have always played it, to volunteer. Everybody has something to offer.

How can you help?

Some people are able to give more time than others, and any help members or their parents can offer is much appreciated. There are a wide variety of roles within the club, and whether it’s organising socials, helping with our PR, pulling on an umpire shirt, or doing the admin, there is always room for more help!

And with the recent and planned growth of CCHC, there’s even more to do.

In addition we would love to see Young Leaders get involved in helping to deliver hockey within the club.
