Umpiring Excellence

Last week ahead of the AGM we got a good number of our umpires together for a team photo.

That day also marked the end of Tim’s 11 years as Umpire Liaison Officer. Over the past 11 years Tim hasn’t simply got umpires out for all our games, which we all know is a pretty significant challenge on its own!

He has helped every club in Cambridge by providing umpires to help their games take place, building an interdependent network where most of the clubs now help each other out regularly.

He’s also worked with Rob Lewis to ensure our umpires develop and get coaching support. Here are some of the highlights from just the last season or so:

- Five NPUA national league umpires

- Three of whom are young women aged 18-23

- Two will be on international duty this summer

- In the 2025/26 season 31 CCHC umpires helped put on games across Cambridge and beyond

- They umpired 197 club games on top of neutral appointments at National League, East Prem and East Div 1 level.

- Five new Level 2 umpires

- Countless Level 1s

- Umpires aged 13-90!

While our on pitch success is a major focus, the prosperity of our umpiring community has been fantastic. A huge thanks to him and the wider team such as Rob, Webby, East Umpires, Bev and many more who helped make this happen.
